Novi Jorna e Novi Misi
Unavantaluna presents the musical tradition of Christmas in Sicily through the memories of the “novena” as a symbol
of religiousness and faith, but also as an opportunity of reflexion over generativity.
Antic rituals are here presented as “forma concerto”.
Through the use of typical instruments of the Peloritan Christmas, including the “charamedda a paro”, we walk along an imaginary
journey again, performed by a symbolic figure, somebody between an old “cantastorie” (ballad-singer) who remembers and a foolish and
uncensored Giufà.
It is a solemn musical performance that thrusts its roots into tradition, but at the same time innovative and throw itself towards new revised outcomes.
