In the world

australiaUnavantaluna Cumpagnia di Musica Siciliana is an ensemble of musicians brought together by their common Sicilian background and their passion for the popular arts and traditions of their island. Since the birth of the group the need to unite past and present is strongly felt and marked by a quest for a happy balance between tradition and musical innovation. For this reason, they alternate “tarantelle”, “contraddanze” and songs from typical seafaring tradition, with original compositions, though played in a traditional style.
Unavantaluna was founded in 2004 by Carmelo Cacciola, Luca Centamore, Pietro Cernuto and Francesco Salvadore who still the main group Line-Up. Over the years Unavantaluna performed on many stages in Italy and abroad, from Germany to France, from Tunisia to Switzerland. They were honored to present their performance at the National Theatre in Taipei in 2016. In 2013 Unavantaluna with their song ISULI won the Andrea Parodi prize, the most important recognition in Italy dedicated to world music. In 2016 the editorial board of “I concerti di Radio Tre” choose the group for the exhibition held in “Cappella Paolina” of the Quirinale palace in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic.
In April 2018 they toured Australia touching Sydney, Melbourne and Camberra.
Sicilian songs and powerful voices, archaic instruments and thousands year old lore, fresh arrangements and sounds: a group of certain impact that becomes enthralling in the live performance!
